INDIGENISATION and Empowerment minister Saviour Kasukuwere has threatened to suspend support to any council that asks for political cards when awarding contracts in Community Share Ownership Trusts (CSOTs).

INDIGENISATION and Empowerment minister Saviour Kasukuwere has threatened to suspend support to any council that asks for political cards when awarding contracts in Community Share Ownership Trusts (CSOTs). REPORT BY VENERANDA LANGA SENIOR PARLIAMENTARY REPORTER

In an interview with NewsDay after addressing African editors who were in the country last week, Kasukuwere denied there was politicisation of the programme meant to benefit communities in mining areas and other zones endowed with natural resources.

His statements come after Transparency International Zimbabwe produced a damning report alleging that Zanu PF had hijacked the CSOTs projects.

The report said the projects were now benefiting politicians, to the detriment of the masses.

“There is no political card that should deny someone from getting funding, tenders or job contracts in CSOTs schemes,” Kasukuwere said. “It will be stupid to do that and I will suspend support to any council that asks for a political card when issuing out tenders or awarding job contracts in these projects.”
