Mbesuma said playing in surroundings where he had made his fame and fortune was a big motivating factor about this year’s tournament. “It feels like home,” Mbesuma said.  “I have my fans there (in South Africa) and it gives me a morale boost and I will definitely push myself.”

This will be the Zambian striker’s fourth Afcon outing after participating in the 2006, 2010 and 2012 tournaments.

Mbesuma won back coach Herve Renard’s heart after making an impact as a second half substitute when he scored against tournament hosts South Africa in the 2012 Nelson Mandela Challenge on November 14, with Zambia winning 1-0 at Soccer City.

Zambia are in Group C at the upcoming event. They will face Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
