POPULAR Ngwenya Brothers frontman Tedious Matsito said he is dedicating his new six-track album titled Kurongerana to BancABC and other people who helped him during his trying times.

The album, which was released last Friday, is Ngwenya Brother’s 20th offering.

Matsito fell into calamity in 2009 when he was involved in an accident leading to the amputation of his left leg last year.

He could not release the album as scheduled because of financial constraints. He had to shoulder a huge hospital bill when his leg was being treated.

However, the Gede hitmaker was rescued by BancABC who imported an artificial leg from Germany for the musician. The leg will help Matsito to walk freely without any aid. This will enable him to dance during live shows as he is currently performing while seated. Matsito will receive the leg as soon as his orthotist finishes the stump management process.

“I am grateful to BancABC and other people who stood by me during trying times. The past three years have been hell to me and I thought I had lost it all musically, but that wasn’t it.

“I dedicate this album to the bank and others who helped me and they must enjoy it. I could have released the album in 2009, but because of the accident I couldn’t pick myself up. I had no money and all that, but I believe this album marks the beginning of another era. I am back on the music radar and I am back for good,” said an elated Matsito.

The album, which is laden with the traditional Ngwenya sungura tunes, is a development which will see the group breaking a three-year silence following the fatal accident which killed some band members and destroyed their equipment.

Some of the songs on the album include Mabasa, Hondo Yemari and Kurongerana.

Hondo Yemari chronicles the struggles by Zimbabweans in their day-to-day efforts to earn a living in this multi-currency regime since the dollarisation of the economy.

Mabasa, Matsito says, refers to the consequences and troubles related with jealousy and envy in the society while Kurongerana seeks to capture unforeseen events like the accident that nearly claimed his life.

Kurongerana also advises people to prepare for future events.
