Matsito, whose leg was amputated last year, got the artificial leg recently and can now walk without the aid of crutches.

A BancABC official said the bank would soon hold a ceremony to officially hand   over the artificial leg to the musician.

He has been given the artificial leg ahead of the ceremony so that he perfectly practices using it. The artificial leg was imported from Germany at a cost of $2 360.

Matsito had his leg amputated in May last year because of gangerene, a condition that develops when a body part loses its blood supply resulting in the death of a tissue of the affected body part. He developed this condition due to injuries sustained in a road accident in 2008.

Since the leg was amputated, Matsito was failing to raise $300 to buy the leg at Parirenyatwa Hospital before the bank chipped in.

Officials from BancABC said they had moved in to assist Matsito as one of the bank’s first clients in the country.

The bank has promised to assist Matsito further.

Meanwhile, there was confusion over the Matsito assistance issue after promoter Patrick Chimbodza, popularly known in music circles as Chipaz, also promised to assist the musician. The bank has engaged Matsito and Chipaz who has revealed he will only assist Matsito musically.

He has promised to channel some proceeds from a charity match slated for Rufaro Stadium on Saturday to the assistance.

The match will feature yesteryear soccer players and musicians.

“We are still going to assist him and in other ways. Since he now has a leg, we are going to make sure he has a kit or take care of his band,” said Chipaz.
