The Zambian international and former Hwange defender has been linked with a move to the league champions Dynamos who have registered the player in their Caf Champions League squad.

The Harare giants claim that they have agreed personal terms with the player.

However, the highly-rated 20-year-old defender has been spotted at FC Platinum training ground, heightening rumours that he was heading for the well-sponsored Zvishavane-based club.

Katebe yesterday revealed that he had received a good offer from FC Platinum, but had not signed.

Commenting after one of his fans asked him on social network Facebook about his next destination, the Kitwe-born player said his manager would arrive in Harare today upon which a deal would be announced.

“Yes, there is a good offer (from FC Platinum), but I’m still waiting for my manager. He is coming on Friday (today) so am coming on Friday to Harare,” wrote Katebe.

Dynamos vice-chairman and acting secretary-general Webster Chikengezha yesterday confirmed they were meeting Katebe and his representative today.

“Katebe and his manager Gabriel Kaunda should arrive in Harare today (yesterday) and we will have a meeting tomorrow (today),” said Chikengezha.

“We have agreed on his signing-on fee and his salary and we just want to finalise some few issues. The deal is as good as done,” he added.

Chikengezha revealed that they had also agreed a loan deal with Hwange for striker Francesco Zikumbawire despite the player publicly stating on Facebook that the deal had collapsed.

Zikumbawire, who has also been included in Dynamos’ initial list for the Caf Champions League yesterday wrote: “It’s always been my dream to wear that blue and white jersey number 23. I may have failed now, but I do believe that the opportunity will come again and when it does come, nothing or no one will stop me. I believe in God and soon you will all see the power of God in me.”

Chikengezha said Dynamos had managed to negotiate for the player’s release from Hwange.

“The deal is 90% done and Zikumbawire should arrive in Harare on Sunday and start training with the rest of the squad on Monday.

“We had some sticking points with Hwange so the player could have got the impression that the deal had collapsed. We have managed to renegotiate and by and large we have agreed on a deal.”

Meanwhile, prodigal son Evans Gwekwerere has completed his return to Dynamos after signing a deal yesterday.

Chikengezha refused to give away the finer details of the deal, but he confirmed that the striker had returned.

Gwekwerere has been included in the Dynamos squad for the Caf Champions League that will be sent to Caf today, replacing Martin Vengesai who failed to agree terms with the club.

“We had a meeting with him today (yesterday) and I can confirm that Gwekwerere is back. He was recommended by the technical team as a replacement for Martin Vengesai.

“We have included him on our Champions League list and we are sending a squad of 26 players to Caf tomorrow (today).

“It’s a pity that Martin’s slot has been wasted, but it was beyond our control,” said Chikengezha.
