Addressing a youth empowerment forum in Bulawayo yesterday, Kasukuwere lashed out at financial institution CABS for delaying the disbursements and introducing stringent pre-qualification conditions.

CABS has been tasked with the disbursement of the money under the National Youth Fund.

“We will see change in the next few days, the funds are available. I know where the problem is and I will get to the root of it,” he said.

“It has not been easy to get the money across the country. Young people want the money in order to have a beginning and move forward.”

In the past, Matabeleland youths have complained of being sidelined in the disbursement of the funds.

Kasukuwere said over 7 000 loan applications had been turned down because they did not meet banks’ requirements. “The banks are being difficult for nothing,” he said.

“Jobs cannot be created if banks act as if they are operating in their own world.

“Do you have to go to Harare to become pregnant? If you can fall pregnant in Bulawayo, you can also get rich in Bulawayo.”

CABS boss Kevin Terry could not be reached for comment last night.
