Police confirmed the death of Daniel Zunzanyika of village 2B, Sarukweza in Sanyati, Kadoma district.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara said on January 2 at around 4pm in the Mahwerere grazing area, the now deceased was tending cattle together with his elder brother Anxious when suddenly it started raining heavily. While in a state of panic over cattle which dispersed in different directions following the heavy downpour, the brothers also ran in different directions trying to control their herd, police said.

It is said Anxious could not locate his sibling, but managed to drive the cattle home and informed their father Tineyi Zunzanyika (42), who then conducted a search, but failed to find Daniel.

The father returned home and retired to bed and early the following morning he teamed up with other villagers and conducted a further search in the grazing area where they found the boy’s body floating in a gulley.

The matter was reported to police and no foul play is suspected.
