Zimbabwe faces a tough task to qualify for the World Cup as they are set to clash with the Pharoahs of Egypt in March.

In a telephone interview from South Africa yesterday, Gorowa said he was expecting to have discussions with Pagels.

“I was appointed as the special assignments coach by the Zifa technical board. I cannot comment much on the Warriors game against Egypt because I am still to meet the head coach. I might be coming before the end of this month,” he said.

Under former coach Rahman Gumbo, the Warriors kick started their campaign badly with a 1-0 loss to Guinea at home and suffered another set-back after playing a goalless draw with Mozambique in Maputo. Egypt beat Guinea 3-2 before edging Mozambique 2-0.

Zifa disbanded the Warriors and its technical team in November last year. The decision came after the Warriors failed to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) which kicks off in South Africa tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Warriors have slipped one more place dropping to 102 on the latest Fifa-Coca-Cola world rankings released yesterday. They are now ranked 27th in Africa as they have not played a match since falling 2-0 to Angola in the 2013 Afcon qualifier last October. Zifa is in the process of arranging a friendly against North African opposition on February 6.
