JOHANESBURG — Angola coach Gustavo Ferrin was pleased with his team’s effort against Morocco, if a little frustrated by their lack of goals.

Angola weathered an early assault from the north Africans, before dominating the second half and missing a number of chances late on. A win for Angola would have been deserved on the night, but Ferrin said he was pleased with the 0-0 draw and that it was a positive result for his side ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with South Africa in Durban.

“Before the tournament we were the (second) weakest team in the group according to Fifa’s rankings. Now we’ve all come away with 0-0 draws and we keep the same chances as before,” Ferrin said.

“We had several chances for a goal, but unfortunately we could not take them. That is sport. We will continue to fight so that we can improve in our next games.”

Experienced striker Manucho was the chief culprit with the misses, which perhaps bodes ominously for Bafana Bafana as it is rare for him to have two bad games in a row in a national team jersey.
