DYNAMOS are set to meet in the coming week to decide on the $150 000 from Mbada Diamonds ahead of their African Champions League preliminary round encounter against Lesotho Correctional Services in Harare next month.

Dynamos spokesperson Webster Chikengezha said yesterday they would be meeting in due course and would then state their position regarding the sponsorship from Mbada Diamonds.

“We will be meeting over the issue. We will inform you of our position in due course,” Chikengezha said without going into details.

Mbada Diamonds are awaiting communication from the Premier Soccer League.

The diamond mining company has previously said its cup winners would get an additional $150 000 to their winning prize. They said the $150 000 subsidy would cater for travelling costs in the African Safari.

In the 2011 edition of the Mbada Diamonds Cup, the $150 000 went to the tournament runners-up Motor Action who took part in the Caf Confederation Cup.

However, Mbada Diamonds have amended the tournament rules to allow winners of the biggest knock-out tournament in the country to get the full benefits.

Article 13.2.4 says: “The tournament winners shall receive $150 000 worth of accommodation and air ticket sponsorship subsidy to participate in the Caf Confederation Cup/Caf Champions League on condition that they enter into agreement in terms of article 7,2 that mandates them to use the sponsors’ uniforms.

“This subsidy shall be paid directly to the service providers at the time the services are required. Further, this subsidy shall be used to procure $25 000 worth of kit sponsorship bearing the Mbada Diamonds (Pvt) Ltd logo for use during the 2012 Caf Confederation Cup/Caf Champions League tournament.”

Dynamos have in the past said they would only accept the sponsorship if it had the blessings of BancABC, their principal sponsor of the club. On Tuesday, the bank said it was open to multiple sponsorships.

However, during the course of the tournament last year, both sponsors had their logos printed on the front part of the Dynamos kit with the bank getting the more prominent space in reverse white.

Alternatively, the league is exploring a Mbada Diamonds logo on the back of the jersey, near the number and in reverse white, in addition to a smaller one on the front like the one used in the cup final. Last year, Dynamos who also won the league championship, had to rely solely on their principal sponsors BancABC for participation in the African Safari.

Monomotapa, who were beaten to the trophy by Dynamos in the final, have withdrawn from the Caf Confederation Cup tournament citing financial constraints.
