The veteran Olympian, who is on a 17-day nationwide tour, started her mission on Friday in Marondera at Godfrey Huggins Secondary School where 800 students took part in motivational talks and later in the day she was at Hartzell group of schools in Manicaland where an estimated 1 000 students attended. At the weekend, she facilitated a coaching clinic at Hillcrest College in the same province where 66 children from various age groups participated. Her current tour that is run under the theme “Inspiring Our Youth to Become their Own Heroes”, saw different schools in the Eastern border city yesterday morning converging at Mutare Girls’ School to meet their icon.

In Mutare, she was flanked by her husband Tyron Seward, Manicaland Education, Sport, Arts and Culture officer Isaiah Mhere, among others.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport yesterday after the tour Coventry said: “l am excited with the progress we have made so far especially with attendance which is generally good.

“We are on a 17-day tour and this will see us visiting 20 schools around the country and this afternoon( yesterday) we will be in Masvingo,” she said.

“l am inspired because all the events are well attended with selected kids from various schools coming and l believe they are also inspiring me and l’m also there to inspire them.”

“I think we also need to put proper junior structures in place so that we can identify and develop talent so that we have many stars going through the Olympics,” she added.
