Media reports in South Africa yesterday suggested that Mamelodi Sundowns have agreed to pay a total of 10 million rands reportedly demanded by the Cape Town-based side for Billiat.

So desperate are the Brazilians for the talented winger that they have offered midfielder Surprise Moriri as a sweetener to the deal.

“The Siya crew can reveal that Mamelodi Sundowns are preparing a bid for Ajax’s Khama Billiat. The Urban Warriors have placed a price tag of R10 million on the Zimbabwean international and it is believed that Sundowns are prepared to offer hard cash for the highly rated 22-year-old,” reported the soccer website Soccer Laduma yesterday.

“Moriri is expected to be offered to the Cape-based side as part of the deal that will see Billiat join the Chloorkop-based outfit. The veteran has been used sparingly at the club this season and it seems that Sundowns are willing to see the player leave in order to secure their target,” added the website.

Billiat has also been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks although it is now highly likely that Sundowns will get the player due to their big financial muscle.

The 22-year old went for trials at Ajax Amsterdam in Netherlands last year, but it looks like he failed the test.

Billiat, who joined Ajax Cape Town in the summer of 2010 from Caps United has been arguably the only beacon in a subdued season for the Jan Pruijn side.

Ajax Cape Town are currently on position 12 on the 16-team Absa Premiership log standings and just two points away from the drop zone.
