Machowa last year suffered a setback on his way to Mozambique on his maiden foreign tour when two of his colleagues died in an accident.

He was to be deserted a week later by half of the group leaving him to scout for new dancers. Machowa says he has been trying out new routines for his tours this year.

“It has been a tough time, but we have remained resolute with some members who had initially deserted us coming back on board,” said Machowa.

“The challenges for now have been acquiring travel documents for the whole group and, of course, raising travelling funds since we have another tour of Mexico in April.

“I have thus resolved that I will perform solo in Tanzania, while the whole team will travel to Mexico in April when documents have been sorted out.”

Machowa said he was now trying out new acts for the Tanzania tour.

He said he felt strengthened by the rough patch that he went through last year.

“It was a difficult time, but I have come out stronger,” he said.

“The problems actually affected my marriage, but I am happy that is all sorted now. We now have a good team and more importantly, we have crafted new acts that will sure leave a mark.”

Cde Fatso and Chabvondoka, and Mokoomba will also perform at the festival.
