FOUR newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League teams will battle it out in a two-day tournament this weekend as preparations for the new season gather momentum. Southern Region champions How Mine, Central Region’s Tripple B, Triangle from the Eastern Region and Black Rhinos from the Northern Region will take part in the tournament as they seek to finalise their 2013 squads. Tripple B president Eddie Kanyangu: “We want to test our strength and finalise our squad for the 2013 season. We had a match against Dynamos on Sunday and it was not a bad performance at all.”

Tripple B managed to hold Dynamos to a 0-0 draw at Mucheke Stadium in Masvingo.

The Beitbridge-based side is coached by Friday Phiri, while Triangle is mentored by the nomadic Gishon Ntini. Black Rhinos are under the tutelage of Nesbert Saruchera while How Mine are still to appoint a new coach. How Mine have expressed their interest in former Chicken Inn coach Philani Ncube, while the pair of former FC Platinum assistant coach Philani Mabhena and Patson Ndabambi-formerly of relegated Blue Rangers-are also on their radar. Triangle have been on a buying spree with coach Ntini saying he will not conduct trials, but would use the cheque book while last season’s campaigners have also renewed their contracts.
