REIGNING Soccer Star of the Year Denver Mukamba’s impending move to Bidvest Wits has been thrown into further uncertainty after the South African club yesterday parted ways with head coach Antonio Habas Lopez.

Mukamba will now have to impress newly-appointed gaffer Clive Barker who has not had the chance to assess him.

The former Dynamos midfielder’s move to Wits has dragged on with trial stints under different coaches. First under Roger De Sa, before he managed to muscle his way into Lopez’s plans.

The 20-year-old, who is yet to sign a contract with Wits, has also not received his travel itinerary and air tickets from the club to undergo medicals that were initially scheduled for Monday.

The Johannesburg club is regrouping on Monday after the festive holidays and Mukamba was expected to be part of the training squad soon after completing medicals and sealing a deal.

Mukamba’s agent Gibson Mahachi was yesterday battling to contact Wits and get the club’s standpoint on the impending move.

“We always knew they were having problems with Lopez for sometime and now that they have fired him, we are not sure what will happen next. I am now trying to get hold of the club and have a clear position. We are also waiting for air tickets to travel to South Africa for medicals whose arrangements had been scheduled for next week,” said Mahachi.

The headache from the uncertainty has also extended to Dynamos who did not include Mukamba in their squad for this year’s African Champions League.

Dynamos are also facing the grim prospect of losing the striking duo of Simba Sithole and Roderick Mutuma who could both leave for South African clubs.

Bloemfontein Celtic have expressed interest in the pair, but Mutuma appears the likelier to go there for trials next week.

Sithole has expressed unwillingness to return to the South African top-flight league following a torrid time at Mamelodi Sundowns, but Mahachi, who also handles the former Caps United striker said the move cannot be completely ruled out.
