The youths said Sikhosana should stop blaming fellow senior party members for factionalism as he was equally to blame for the rot within the party.

Presenting resolutions of the youth league at the 13th Zanu PF national people’s conference on Saturday, Sikhosana said youths were not to blame for corruption and factionalism as they were dragged into factional divisions by senior party members.

Ironically, Sikhosana is accused by some within the Zanu PF Bulawayo province of “playing a behind-the-scenes role in the sacking of former provincial youth chairperson Butholezwe Gatsi”.

Gatsi’s expulsion reportedly tore the provincial party structures along factional lines.

The youths said Sikhosana had no grounds to apportion blame on party “elders” for causing confusion within the league.

“It is confusing in what capacity Sikhosana speaks when he refers to party elders as he is an elder himself above the age of 60. The problem with Sikhosana is old age. He has no spine and is not suitable to lead the youth as no one takes him seriously,” said a party youth.

Sikhosana dismissed those calling for his ouster saying their comments were misplaced.

“I have no comment. In fact, I have no time to comment on baseless remarks that have nothing to do with development in the party and the country as a whole,” he said.

“I only comment on substantive and progressive matters concerning the development of the country and empowerment of the youth, issues such as the strengthening of the indigenisation policy in the country. I am aware of attempts such as these that aim to distract us from real issues. Those are just directionless remarks that I have no intention of wasting my time upon.”
