The first of its kind in Zimbabwe, the festival will bring together top artistes from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Artistes who will grace the event include Graeme Watkins Project Band (SA), Plush (SA), Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi (Zim), Daniel “DaNNy” Siulapwa (Zambia), Chicken Bus (Zim), Jeremy Loops (SA), DJ Francis (Zim), DJ Ice (Zim), DJ Witchdokta (Zim), Zebra and Giraffe (SA), Mr Bong (SA), Sean D (Zim), Manny Walters (SA), The Monkey Nuts (Zim), Gap (SA), Tanga Pasi (Zim), Jonny Guy (SA) and Sonny Jermain (Zim). TichMataz and Blackbird will be the festivals MCs.

Sean Young, one of the organisers of the show, said all was set for the Vic Falls Carnival which is a community project.

“We hope that this project will provide a platform for local small business involvement and will hopefully boost the local economies of both Victoria Falls and Livingstone. The carnival company itself will also be donating infrastructure to the local communities and schools,” he said.

Young added that the programme of events over the duration of the festival would include community projects such as planting of trees at local schools and other sites, circus and carnival rides.

On December 29, there will be the Zambezi Lager Party Express hosted by Delta Beverages through its Zambezi brand.

“Festival goers will be transferred by the Victoria Falls Steam Train into the African Bush to a secret concert venue. This will be a showcase of local and foreign up and coming artistes and will be a party like no other,” said Young.

Zahara will be the main act on December 30. This will be her third time in the country this year after staging successful shows in Harare and Bulawayo earlier.

December 31 will be the Vic Falls Carnival New Year’s Celebration with Mtukudzi being the main attraction.
