SUPERSTAR Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi is reportedly unwell with an undisclosed ailment.

Report by Silence Charumbira Entertainment Reporter

Tuku failed to perform at New Life Night Club in Budiriro on Saturday and at a family show with the Charambas at Richwood Sports Club yesterday.

However his band, the Black Spirits, had to play without him on Saturday.

Yesterday Tuku Music manager Sam Mataure said: “It is not true. Call me later I really cannot talk where I am.”

Sources within the Tuku camp, however, confirmed that he was unwell, but could not be drawn into disclosing his condition. Rumours have often circulated about Tuku’s health.

Tuku himself, however, has always rubbished the rumours.

Early this year, a prophet, Ambassador Ishmael (real name Ishmael Mangwanya) urged his congregation to pray for the musician’s health.

But, the musician slammed the prophet and labelled him a “false prophet”.

Concerted efforts to get comment from Tuku himself were fruitless yesterday.

Tuku’s daughter Selmor said she was not aware of the illness.

“Last time I spoke to him he was OK,” Selmor said.

“Let me call him right now and find out what the situation is like.”
