THE acting headmaster of Gandavaroyi Primary School in Gokwe North Peter Chihiya (44) on Wednesday appeared in court for allegedly writing Grade Seven examinations for pupils.

SENIOR COURT REPORTER

Chihiya was not asked to plead to fraud when he briefly appeared before Gokwe resident magistrate Shepherd Mjanja yesterday. He was remanded to January 3 for trial on $100 bail.

Charges against Chihiya are that sometime in October this year he allegedly opened an envelope containing the students’ answer sheets and pulled out answer sheets for seven pupils whom he wanted to obtain pass marks.

Chihiya then allegedly wrote the examinations for General Paper, English and Mathematics and placed new answer sheets into the envelope. He allegedly also forged the signatures of the invigilators on the envelopes.

However, the alleged scam was later discovered by Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council officials who asked him to write a report. In the report, he allegedly admitted to have written the examinations on behalf of the pupils. A police report was made leading to his arrest . His report will be produced in court as an exhibit.
