CAPE TOWN — Ajax Cape Town are hoping to tie down the futures of their midfielders Tafadzwa Rusike and Nhlanhla Vilakazi in the coming weeks, before they enter the last six months of their contracts.
Both Rusike (23) and Vilakazi (25) will see their current deals come to an end in June. However, Soccer-Laduma has previously stated the club’s intent to make sure that they remain at Ikamva.
Zimbabwean Rusike joined Ajax from Caps United in 2010, while Vilakazi joined the same year having impressed during his time with Bay United.
Ajax’s chief executive officer, George Comitis, explained that he expected to tie the pair down shortly.
Comitis said: “I’ve got Rusike and Vilakazi’s contracts coming to an end, we’re getting close now, though we’ll probably conclude them soon.”
Other Ajax players who could see their deals run out are goalkeeper Sander Westerveld, whose deal ends in June, and veteran defender Matthew Booth, whose deal is set to be reviewed in March.
The Urban Warriors have had a tough first half to their Premier Soccer League campaign this season and currently find themselves on the wrong half of the table. Having lost a number of key players in transfer windows over the last year or so, Comitis told Soccer-Laduma that this time he did not intend to sell any players.
The club CEO told the crew: “I don’t think that I’m going to let anyone go out of the club. I’ve already had some people trying to get to my players. I’ve had two or three offers on the table, but I’m not going to be accepting them.”

It remains to be seen which of the club’s players are being eyed by fellow Premiership opposition. However, it seems that Comitis is not keen to lose any of his team as they look to turn around their fortunes in 2013.
