The court heard that on November 27 at around 3pm, the accused Oscar Sawaya of Plot 43, West Range farm, Lions’ Den in Chinhoyi, met the complainant while she was on her way from Murereka township.

Sawaya allegedly diverted from his route and started walking with the complainant at the same time telling her that he wanted to impregnate her so she could bear him a child.

The court further heard that after Sawaya’s advances were spurned, he rushed ahead and ambushed the complainant in a bushy area and raped her once wearing a condom.

The complainant reported the matter to her husband two days later before alerting the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Chinhoyi magistrate Fanny Nyakudya granted Sawaya $50 bail and remanded the case to December 18.

Lucky Dube prosecuted.
