SOUTH AFRICAN football giants Orlando Pirates have become the latest club to show interest in signing Rodreck Mutuma, but Dynamos say the lanky striker will not be going anywhere.

The Harare giants have forwarded a 25-member squad to the Confederation of African Football (Caf) for registration for continental assignments next year, with Mutuma one of the players on that list.

Dynamos chairman Kenni Mubaiwa yesterday said Mutuma would not be going anywhere as he still had a contract with them up to 2013.

“We spoke to all our players and made it clear those who wanted to leave could do so, but they accepted to be registered. So if there is a club interested in any of the players we registered, we won’t clear the player. We were very clear on this. That is why we did not register Denver Mukamba because he had asked us not to register him,” said Mubaiwa.

According to Soccer Laduma, South African champions Orlando Pirates, still chasing Zambian Rainford Kalaba, are also looking at signing on Mutuma who is also on the radar of Limpopo-based side Dynamos, in case the deal falls through.

“I don’t have many details about him and the move to Pirates. But what I know is that the teams have talked about the player. We’ll see what happens. He will be going to SA to Pirates in January for trials,” a source told Laduma.

The latest development means Dynamos defender Partson Jaure, who had been linked with a move to a Turkish club, will stay put at the champions.

He has also been registered by the club for the forthcoming African Champions League.

Midfielder Tawanda Muparati and striker Simba Sithole, who had been reported to be on their way out, will now have to wait before they can start thinking of joining any other club.

Should Mukamba’s intended move to South African Premiership side Bidvest Wits fail to materialise, he would only play for Dynamos in the local league campaign.

The reigning Castle Lager Footballer of the Year, went for trials with “The Students” last month and his management team has expressed confidence a deal will be struck soon which would see him join Thomas Sweswe and Tinashe Nengomasha at the South African club.
