INJURED former Warriors legendary striker Peter Ndlovu could be flown to England for further treatment, it has emerged. Report by Sukoluhle Mthethwa

Peter sustained multiple injuries on his legs and forehead when he was involved in a fatal accident that killed his brother Adam and also claimed the life of a female colleague Nomqhele Tshili earlier this month.

Family spokesperson Madinda Ndlovu yesterday told NewsDaySport that plans had been put in place to fly Peter to England. The striker is currently admitted at Mater Dei Hospital in Bulawayo where Madinda said he is recovering well.

“If resources permit, we will do what we can to get him abroad so that we get a second opinion on his health when he is discharged. We are likely to send him to UK. We are still talking to some people to see if we can take him there. The professionals working on Peter say he will be out of hospital soon,” he said.

“Peter is recovering well at the hospital, but he is still in the Intensive Care Unit. We have not seen him breaking down because he has got a lot of support from his family. The presence of his sisters, brothers and nephews has made him stronger.”

Peter attended his brother’s funeral in a wheelchair after he underwent a three hour operation on both his legs last Wednesday.

Madinda added: “He is already trying to walk on crutches. He will get better if he puts some weight on the legs. He should be able to walk soon. It is a good sign to see him move from the wheelchair and walking on crutches.”

The Botswana-based Madinda said they were yet to be informed on when the former Warriors striker would be discharged from hospital.

“We stand guided by professionals who are working on Peter to inform us when he will be discharged. The professionals will also guide us as to when he will be ready to face the world. Only family members and those he requests to see are visiting him.

“We do not know how he is going to deal directly with the public because others will make him cry, evoke memories while others will make him breakdown. The other school of thought says we should keep him away from the public until he can walk, stand his ground and face the world,” he said.

Peter was driving his BMW X5 when it burst a tyre before it veered off the road and rammed into a tree killing Tshili on the spot while Adam died on his way to hospital.

Adam was buried at Lady Stanley Cemetery in Bulawayo last Saturday, while Tshili had been laid to rest in Esiphezini two days earlier.

Madinda said they appreciated the support they had received from people from all walks of life following the tragic incident.
