DYNAMOS coach Kalisto Pasuwa has pushed the refresh button to reinvigorate his squad by getting rid of old horses and injecting new blood in his squad for the next edition of the Caf Champions League.

Report By HENRY MHARA SPORTS REPORTER

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Coach of the Year axed Desmond Maringwa, David Kutyauripo, Wonder Sithole and George Magariro from the 25-member squad list sent to Caf on Saturday for registration in the Champions League.

One old guard Murape Murape somehow survived the chop due to his alleged connections to an all-powerful politician with strong links to Dynamos.

From the list, Pasuwa has managed to retain some of the young players. He managed to acquire some youthful and yet experienced players.

Zambian import and former Hwange defender Aaron Katebe (20) leads the new crop of players that has been registered by Dynamos.

The list includes the highly rated 22-year-old winger Russel Madamombe, who has been touted as a direct replacement for Denver Mukamba.

Mukamba was omitted from the list on the last minute after South African side Bidvest Wits University had shown interest in signing him.

Martin Vengesai was the beneficiary of that omission.

Chicken Inn hardman Sydney Linyama, who plays as a holding midfielder and is also comfortable in central defence, also joined and so did Francesco Zikumbawire on loan from Hwange.

The height of the two and their huge physical build will be very crucial in the Champions League where battles will be more physical than anything else.

The only veteran that has been added into the squad is Stephen Alimenda while former Motor Action defender Morris Kadzola has also been included.

Goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva has been promoted from the juniors and joins new teammate Artwell Mukandi, snapped from Monomotapa.

Save for Mukamba whose departure was apparent, the league champions have managed to persuade the likes of Parson Jaure, Simba Sithole, Tawanda Muparati, Devon Chafa and Thomas Magorimbo to stay.

While these players — most of them making their debut in the Champions League last season — understandably wilted under pressure in Africa, the experience they gained might prove invaluable this time around.

Negotiations for Tawanda Nyamandwe (free agent), Donald Ngoma (FC Platinum) and Willard Kalongonda (Harare City) are believed to be going on.

Dynamos 25-member, Caf Champions League squad George Chigova, Artwell Mukandi, Tatenda Mukuruva, Patson Jaure, Gift Bello, Ocean Mushure, Thomas Magorimbo, Augustine Mbara, Aaron Katebe, Morris Kadzola, Sydney Linyama, Russel Madamombe, Francesco Zikumbawire, Boban Ziruntusa, Milton Makopa, Cliff Sekete, Tawanda Muparati, Devon Chafa, Stephen Alimenda, Farai Mupasiri, Tichaona Mabvura, Murape Murape, Rodreck Mutuma, Martin Vengesai, Simba Sithole.
