She shrugged off competition from 14 other models in a tightly contested pageant that featured models from around the country and abroad. Tabelo Masoha, who is currently based in South Africa, was crowned first princess while former Miss Curvy Tanya Chikuni from Harare became second princess.

Melissa Moyo from Gweru won the GTEL Face of Zimbabwe people’s choice crown.

Moyo garnered most votes from the public through an online voting system that has become the pageant’s popular feature.

Bianca Mpopoma, who also stays in South Africa, was crowned Miss Personality and awarded $750, a voucher for one night accommodation at Crowne Plaza and a laptop.

Prizes for the top three winners were not announced at the ceremony as organisers maintained that they wanted to surprise the winners with their packages at a prize-giving event to be held soon.

Noreen Chimuka and Sheena Siyaminga made it to the last five. Former Miss Zimbabwe Malaika Mushandu crowned the winners. Robert Gonye of G Telecommunication who sponsored the pageant described the event as a success.

“The models were very professional and the judges did a convincing job. We hope to take the pageant to another level next year and we want to thank musicians that spiced up the contest with good performances,” he said. Some of the musicians that performed at the event are Sulumani Chimbetu, Winky D, Cee Jay Besa and Stunner.
