Former Buffaloes striker Takunda Mapara scored in the first half before Isaac Nengomasha and Blessing Mwamuka put the final nail on the coffin after the breather.

For their efforts they received US$20 000 while Ruwa walked away with US$15 000.

The Mutare-based side who were all over their opponents throughout the match, had the luxury of missing a penalty in the first half after their goalkeeper Blessing Mandimustira skied the ball well over the bar.

In the third and fourth place playoff match that was played at the same venue, Setheo United beat Mwenezana 7-6 in penalty shootout after the match had ended 2-2 in regulation time.

The teams received US$9 000 and US$5 000 respectively.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport on the sidelines, Eastern Region chairman Fungai Chihuri said he was happy with the level of the competition.

‘’The level of competition was very high and I am happy that all teams participated in this tournament this year and they are going to get their cash prize,’’ he said.

The tournament is bankrolled by Zimbabwe Football Association president Cuthbert Dube.
