Dubbed “The New Year Gig”, the event lived up to its billing with artistes on the line-up putting up scintillating performances.

Headlined by Sulumani Chimbetu, the gig also saw Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Blessing Shumba, Mahendere Brothers, Tanga Wekwa Sando, Lisa Machakwa, Iyasa, Banyana Bafana, Mhondoro Ngezi Choir and Sanyati Choir performing.

First on the stage was Mhondoro Ngezi Choir led by Staff Vela who got the crowds thinking with his striking attack on social and political ills.

They made way for Sanyati Choir who appeared misfits on the night taking the opportunity to peddle political messages much to the chagrin of the promoter of the gig Blessed “Bomb Shell“ Geza. Geza complained that they were taking advantage of the gathering which was way off the mark.

“These people are taking advantage of me,” he said in a backstage interview.

“I do not like this because this has nothing to do with politics. Everyone is welcome here and they want to make it look like a rally which is wrong.”

Banyana Bafana wowed the crowd with their dance routines.

The dancers then made way for Zvakavapano-Mashavave who has always proven she is no push over.

She had the revellers singing along and dancing the night away.

On-and-off performer Tanga Wekwa Sando then took to the stage churning out his comical oldies that made him a household name many years ago.

Macgesh dance group then took over briefly and stunned the audience with their agility.

Sulu then came to the stage and proved why they call him the king of dendera.

His hit song Sean Timba won the night and justified why he was slotted in as the main act of the gig.
