Masunda yesterday said his image suffered irreparable damage when Local Government minister Ignatius Chombo and Information minister Webster Shamu accused him of double dipping.

The two accused the mayor of pushing companies linked to him to spearhead a multi-million-dollar low-income housing project in Budiriro suburb, Harare.

Masunda has interests in CABS and Old Mutual, both firms involved in the multi-million-dollar housing project.

Chombo last month set up a probe team to investigate Masunda for possible conflict of interest, but the Ellen Chivaviro-led team exonerated the mayor.

“They have to apologise because that team never was anywhere near investigating me,” Masunda said.
