Mapuranga yesterday told NewsDay Sport that he is not moving to Harare.

“I have been hearing rumours that I am moving to Dynamos. I am still a Highlanders player my contract is ending next year. I will definitely be in Highlanders colours next year unless something else comes up. Dynamos have never approached me. If they do then its Highlanders who will decide if I should go because I have a running contract,” he said.

The steely defender was one of the major mainstays of Highlanders impressive run this year in the premiership together with his outstanding vice-captain Erick Mudzingwa despite having lost out on the championship to Dynamos.

“My main aim next year is to win the league with Highlanders. We lost the championship to Dynamos, but it will not be the same next year. We are going to work even harder so that 2013 becomes our year.”

He said the clubs needs continuity if they are to win the league title.

“If we stick together as a team and avoid a situation where a lot of players move that will help us. We need continuity in the team and if the coaches stay as well then we can achieve something. The supporters should support us from the start of the season until the end to motivate us,” he said.

Mapuranga was a Footballer of the Year finalist alongside his teammates Mthulisi Maphosa, goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda and runner up Masimba Mambare.

Last year, Mapuranga dominated the clubs awards picking up the Player of the Year and Most Consistent Player of the Year awards.
