Launched in March 2012, Move is set to be a permanent fixture and platform for a cross-section of local artistes.

“Our main aim is to give a platform to a diverse range of alternative artistes and showcase some of the available talent that the country has to offer as well as an environment where the arts and audiences meet seamlessly due to the intimacy of the layout,” said Magamba Network Projects Manager Tongai Makawa.

He said Move was initiated as part of a move to grow live acts, record and help launch them onto festival circuits around the nation and abroad.

Comrade Fatso and Chabvondoka’s single and video for the track Korokoza was produced at this platform

The weekend event saw a good audience for the rising stars Indie Hip-Hop and the Monkey Nuts, who will be releasing their debut titled Something Out Of Nothing, next year.

Comrade Fatso and Chabvondoka also gave the crowd a top notch performance, especially during the people’s favourite song Korokoza.

The night grew better as the stage was graced by the lovely voices of United States Hip-Hop artiste Akua Naru and Zimbabwe’s own mbira princess Hope Masike who gave the audience value for money with their unique musical talents.

“Our scope is very much nationwide, as is our artiste data base, although right now we are focusing on Harare. We also have artistes from Mutare and Bulawayo who we will be working with as soon as we have completed the current Monkey Nutz production here,” Makawa said.

He added that the event’s frequency would be determined by the rate at which they will be able to produce consumable material that the artiste have to offer.

Makawa said the idea was to focus on one artiste/band at a time so as to allow full focus, although each night would have a diversity of acts to compliment the main act.

He said the event was different from when an artiste launches his/her own album alone since it was a support structure that allows an artiste to focus on the art form and leave other organisational logistics that could be distractions to event planning and execution.
