The now-deceased was identified as Gift Hangimi of Kawondera village under Chief Chirau, Zvimba.
Acting Mashonaland West police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ian Kohwera confirmed the incident which occurred last week.
Police said Hangimi, who was on antiretroviral therapy after testing HIV positive, left home on the pretext he wanted to go and work in his vegetable garden situated a distance from his homestead.
His body was later found hanging on a tree.
