Artwell Mutape of Falcon College, Thesly Mufunda and Tafadzwa Chitemamiswe of the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and Petros Ndlovu of BAC made it into the semi-final last weekend and they battle for a place in the final tomorrow.

Ndlovu takes on Mutape in the first semi-final, while the other match pits Mufunda against Chitemamiswe. Mutape beat Tariro Mtisi 6-1, 6-3 of GC to progress to the semi-finals, while Ndlovu accounted for Khumbulani Matema of BAC 6-3, 6-1. Mufunda beat Stephen Chiwanza of Midlands State University 7-5, 6-4 in the only tightly contested game last weekend to meet Chitemamiswe who beat Hillary Ncube of GC 6-1, 6-1.

“The matches have been very exciting indeed with high quality tennis being displayed. We are sincerely excited with the league and also had some good doubles events which saw BAC taking pole position and GC B team being runners-up and GC A coming 3rd overall,” Adam Joelson, one of the organisers, said. “We would like to thank all those who have supported us so much like the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Falcon College and BAC for making this year’s edition of the GC Tennis Centre Senior League a great success.”

The prize giving ceremony will be held after the men’s singles final on Sunday.
