This followed reports that some as yet to be identified elements have been claiming to be or trying to pass off as Advocate Mpofu thereby swindling innocent people seeking legal services.

“Members of the public are therefore being advised not to fall prey to any bogus lawyer, including those who might identify themselves as advocate Thabani Mpofu,” said the Law Society of Zimbabwe.

“Advocate Mpofu, a member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, currently practices from the Advocate Chambers where he is a member and is the only known Thabani Mpofu registered as a legal practitioner in Zimbabwe.

“Advocate Mpofu does not accept instructions from members of the public, but only deals with clients through attorneys.”

The society has warned it would not hesitate to report any suspect to the police.
