PRETORIA — Round 14 of the Absa Premiership saw Katlego Mphela find the back of the net for Mamelodi Sundowns to hand Pitso Mosimane his first win as the Brazilians coach while the big Soweto Derby ended all square.

The biggest match of the weekend was undoubtedly the top of the table clash between league leaders Kaizer Chiefs and their fierce cross-town rivals Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers took the lead in the first half through Collins Mbesuma, but were pegged back in the second 45 by Lehlohonolo Majoro’s eighth league goal of the season as the match ended 1-1.
The result sees the Amakhosi remain at the top of the league standings on 31 points, but they are closely followed by Pirates and Platinum Stars, both on 28 points.
Platinum Stars certainly have been the surprise package of the 2012/13 season and they impressed again on the weekend in a 10-goal thriller beating Golden Arrows 6-4 after trailing 4-2 at one point. Stars are in third position on the table, while Arrows are third from bottom on 13 points.
The weekend’s action got underway on Friday night in Cape Town and Soweto respectively as an 86th minute goal from Toriq Losper handed Ajax Cape Town a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United, while SuperSport registered only their second win of the campaign with 3-1 victory over Moroka Swallows.
The Urban Warriors moved up to 11th on the table with 15 points, while Maritzburg remained in fourth spot on 23 points.

On Saturday night, the University of Pretoria registered a slender 1-0 win over Chippa United thanks to a last-minute own goal from James Okwuosa which sees the Cape side second from bottom on the league table with 11 points while Tuks cemented their fifth place spot on 21 points.
Sunday saw three games taking place with the biggest result Mosimane’s first win as Sundowns coach.
Mphela scored in his first game back in the starting XI to see Sundowns beat Black Leopards 1-0 and finally out of the relegation zone into 13th spot with 14 points.
Free State Stars also registered a tight 1-0 win over city rivals Bloemfontein Celtic. Luyolo Nomandela scored in the dying seconds of the match to see the Ea Lla Koto into sixth place on the table while Celtic dropped to ninth.
In the final match of the weekend, AmaZulu and Bidvest Wits played to a 1-1 draw which sees the Durban-based side remain rooted to the bottom of the table, while Wits kept seventh place.
