In a posting on their Facebook page, Faz – led by Kalusha Bwalya, who played against both Ndlovu brothers – said: “RIP Adam Ndlovu and our prayers are with Peter Ndlovu for a recovery. We are truly saddened by this tragic loss as we pray for Peter and his family. Adam was one of the finest strikers to play for the Warriors.”

International renowned Fifa agent and business manager Mike Makaab, who is based in South Africa, said in a tweet: “Condolences to the family of Adam Ndlovu, who passed away in a car accident. His brother Peter is in a critical, but stable condition.”

The United States embassy said: “It is with a great sense of sadness that we have learnt of the passing on of Adam Ndlovu, Zimbabwean football legend and Premier Soccer Legue Chicken Inn coach. We wish Peter Ndlovu, who is hospitalised, a speedy recovery. Our thoughts are with the Ndlovu family at this moment.”
