TWO cousins from Mpopoma in Bulawayo were allegedly caught red-handed being intimate inside a Seventh-Day Adventist Church in the suburb, leading to their arrest late last week.

Report By RICHARD MUPONDE SENIOR COURT REPORTER The suspects — who cannot be named to protect the victim who is 14 years old — were remanded to January 7 when they briefly appeared before magistrate Themba Chimiso last Thursday.

The court did not ask them to plead to the incest charge and remanded the man in custody while the victim was released into her parents’ custody.

State counsel Tatenda Dakwa told the court that between November 6 and 30 this year, the pair had an incestuous relationship.

It was heard that on the first occasion, the pair was going to Nkulumane suburb on foot from Mpopoma to visit relatives.

When they arrived at a bushy area near a quarry factory in the Kelvin South industrial area, the man asked to be intimate with the girl and she agreed.

On November 30, the pair was caught red-handed being intimate inside a church building in Mpopoma.

However, the matter was played down until the police were tipped off of the alleged incestuous relationship, leading to the pair’s arrest.
