GOD Parent, the organisation co-founded by broadcaster-cum-gospel musician Agnes “Eglada” Gudza and two-time Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year winner Beauty Bhulu, recently held a Christmas party at Khayelihle Children’s Village in Bulawayo. Entertainment Reporter
The recently registered non-profit organisation coupled the Christmas party with a talent identification show and entertained hundreds of orphaned and less-privileged children.
Scores of children participated in various disciplines which included singing, dancing, poetry recitals and public speaking at the event and a number of them were identified and will be assisted according to their specialties.
“In the coming year, all the kids we identified during the year will be groomed by professionals in their respective fields before being taken to recording studios and some will dance on music videos and live shows.
“We are trying to give these children a chance to find their own way in life and by boosting their confidence and developing their talents, they will surely succeed,” said Bhulu, who is also the proprietor of Bulawayo’s celebrated 3-Star Glen Lodge.
She added that the organisation had been depending on corporate philanthropists the whole year when they carried out the talent identification shows around several orphanages in the country.
God Parent over the year held parties during public holidays at various orphanages including Rugare Orphan Care headquarters, Nehosho Orphanage in Gweru and recently at Khayelihle Children’s Village, with help from businessmen like Tawanda Mutyebere owner of Chicken Slice, Bhulu of Glen Lodge and Tours and Maxwell Ngwari of Inverto Security, among others.
A traditional dance group at Khayelihle Children Village called Umgido, captured the imagination of everyone present and left several others in stitches with their comic antics.

Others performed individually and will also receive aid from the organisation for recordings and post-production.
Bhulu said the dancers will be incorporated into mainstream music acts.
“We focus mainly on talented children, identifying and promoting their talents, so that they can become successful in their respective fields. I am so happy that my dream of helping the disadvantaged children is slowly coming true.
“As a gospel musician, I feel it is my duty to help the less-fortunate so that I may spread the Word of God through actions. I call upon my fellow gospel musicians and the corporate world to participate in this noble endeavour,” Eglada said.
The head of the children’s home was full of praise for God Parent for taking the time to visit the children, feeding them and boosting their confidence.
