The Hwange forward rated as one of the top strikers, made a formidable partnership with Soccer Star of the Year finalist Rodwell Chinyengetere in the just ended season, but still has a running contract with the colliery team.

Chicken Inn coach Adam Ndlovu yesterday admitted to NewsDay Sport that they were interested in the services of the striker.

“We are interested in him, but we cannot say anything more because we have not approached Hwange,” said Ndlovu Zvikumbawire joined the coal miners in 2011 from Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two side Zim Leopards. Zim Leopards’ secretary Dyke Magwanyagwanya told NewsDay Sport that his team’s aim was to produce good players who would go places and said Zvikumbawire could be plying his trade in the European league in the next two years since he was a gifted striker.

His performance on the local scene saw him being called for national duty together with Chinyengetere by former Warriors gaffer Rahman Gumbo.

If Chicken Inn seal the deal, Zvikumbawire will fight for first team places with Tendai Ndoro, Tendai Mukambi, Leneance Mpofu and former footballer of the year, Evans Chikwaikwai.
