Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident which allegedly happened last week.

Police said on December 13, in Knowe, Norton, the accused, who stays with his sister, a tenant at the house, sweet-talked the landlady’s granddaughters, both aged two years, and took them to the backyard.

He allegedly went on to sexually abuse the first toddler while the other watched, before pouncing on the second one.

“The matter only came to light after one of the victims complained to her grandmother of pain around her genitalia,” said Mabgweazara, adding that an inspection on both children revealed that they had indeed been raped.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of accused, while the victims were taken to Norton District Hospital for medical examinations.

Accused, by virtue of his age was, however, released into the custody of his guardians.
