PREMIER Soccer League champions Dynamos are still battling to tie down players they registered for the African Champions League

PREMIER Soccer League champions Dynamos are still battling to tie down players they registered for the African Champions League with defensive midfielder Devon Chafa yet to sign for the Harare giants following the expiry of his contract.

Report By TAWANDA TAFIRENYIKA SPORTS CORRESPONDENT

Chafa had an outstanding season for the champions after fitting well into the void left by Milton Makopa, whose injury kept him on the sidelines for the better part of the season.

Makopa is now back to full fitness, while Chafa is reported to have also recovered since he sustained an injury against Highlanders last season, something that will give coach Kalisto Pasuwa options in that role.

However, sources said last week Chafa’s handlers were still failing to agree with Dynamos on a new contract with Dynamos offering way below their expectations.

It is said Chafa is being valued at around $20 000, an amount Dynamos insist is too high.

Forward Martin Vengesayi is yet to sign with his handlers also not agreeing with what Dynamos are offering.

Monomotapa winger Russel Madamombe, who is set to replace Denver Mukamba, is also yet to sign amid reports that no agreement had been reached.

“Dynamos are still to conclude deals with a number of players. The good thing is that we had already registered the players, but we are facing challenges to have them sign contracts as they are being overvalued. Meetings are still taking place as we negotiate, but the challenge is the pricing. We hope to conclude the signings this week,” said a source.

The Dynamos team tasked with the signing of players was still locked up in meetings yesterday with one of the members, club secretary Ray Kazembe, unavailable for comment.

Dynamos are reported to be offering an average of $5 000 to sign players, which is being viewed as too little.

The Hwange duo of defender Aaron Katebe and striker Francesco Zikumbawire are understood to have been released to join the champions in camp next week. They are said to be joining Dynamos on loan.

Dynamos have until January 15 to make additions to their African Champions League squad. Initially, Dynamos sent a 25-member squad list for registration with the Confedration of African Football. However, they will have to pay a $500 late registration fine for each player.

The champions are set to start their pre-season camp on January 7 outside Harare with the DeMbare leadership proposing a trip to Kariba.
