Cellone Electronics is one of the sponsors of the gig that will feature Oliver Mtukudzi, Sulumani Chimbetu, Winky D and Munya Mataruse.

The company, which specialises in electric gadgets, has pledged support for the local arts industry and subsequently decided to award fans for rallying behind the artistes.

Cellone Electronics director George Chiraya said the fun will begin along First Street Mall in the city centre tomorrow afternoon.

“There will be numerous surprises from Cellone Electronics. We are having our 2012 Mega Bonus Draw along First Street Mall on Friday (tomorrow) afternoon where we will give away tickets for the ‘Last Gig’,” said Chiraya.

“The draw will see many of our clients winning various prizes in addition to the tickets for the gig. At the gig, we will give away the latest products in our various ranges.”

The “Last Gig” is expected to attract thousands of musicians if the line-up of performers is anything to go by.

Mtukudzi has a history of attracting legion of fans at most of his shows. He is currently riding high with his album Sarawoga that was released in September as part of his 60th birthday celebrations.

Also riding on the wave of a new album’s success is Sulumani Chimbetu whose new release Syllabus has become the talk of town.

Chimbetu, who recently toured the United Kingdom, has been on top of his game for the better part of this year. On the other hand, Winky D, who is popularly known as the “Ninja

President” will be looking forward to bank on his exceptional stage expertise to steal the thunder from Tuku and Sulu.

Young Mataruse will be out to prove that he is now his own man after a couple of years under Tuku’s shadow.

The Pakare Paye Arts Centre-trained afrojazz crooner is one of the fast rising artistes from his genre.

He seems to be following his mentor’s footsteps.

Considering that most companies are shutting down for the festive season tomorrow, the show is likely to be memorable.

Show organiser Josh Hozheri said they had enlisted artists that appeal to different age groups at the gig to have a mixed entertainment bag.

“There will be something for the mature and something for the youths,” said Hozheri.

“Most of Mtukudzi’s fans are mature while Chimbetu caters for various age groups. Winky D’s music mainly appeals to the youths and Mataruse will come in representing the growing crop of talented young musicians.”

Hozheri said other sponsors, namely Mega and Stratia Beverages, will also give away a number of prizes as Christmas presents for the fans.

“Tickets for the show are available at Chicken Slice outlets, Cellone Shops, Queensdale Liquor Centre and Jazz 105. Anyone who buys an original ticket stands a chance to win the prizes on offer.”
