Zinef, Coca-Cola mourn reporter Matiki

THE Zimbabwe National Editors’ Forum (Zinef) and Coca-Cola have expressed condolences to the Matiki family on the passing on of Roy, a Sunday Mail sports reporter.

Matiki was laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery yesterday.

“Roy was an illustrious and exceptional sports reporter who excelled in his field. Words seem to be inadequate to express the grief we feel as a fraternity, for we have lost one of the country’s best sports reporters.

“May his soul rest in eternal peace. To his family we say, may your memories of Roy give you strength and as you grapple to come to terms with this sad loss, may you take comfort in that each tear you shed is profound love rising to the heavens,” Zinef chairman Brian Mangwende said in a statement yesterday.

Copa Coca-Cola said: “It is with profound sorrow that the Coca-Cola system mourns its champion who was so humble, hard working and indeed a good ambassador for the journalistic profession.

“He assisted in increasing appreciation of schools sports to the public.”
