First published in 1986, the latest awards feature VFSL as number 10 in the category.

The 72-room VFSL, flagship of the Africa Albida Tourism group (AAT), is the only Zimbabwe property to feature in the Top 25 list.

The list is headed by Sabi Sabi with a 98,3 rating, one of seven South African camps in the top 10. The other three are from Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

“This is brilliant news for Zimbabwe tourism,” said Ross Kennedy, chief executive of AAT Kennedy said that since the readers’ votes were cast there had been a significant upgrade at the resort.

“All VFSL public areas have been refurbished and revitalised and on August 15 we opened the new 20-room luxury wing, Victoria Falls Safari Club that takes us to an even more superior level of guest comfort, luxury and style,” he said.

In March this year, Conde Nast Traveler readers across the globe cast eight million votes and VFSL was honoured in the Gold List of the Top 22 Safari Lodges & Camps across Africa and was recently awarded VFSL “Best Safari Lodge” for the 17th successive year by the Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA). “These past few years have seen tough times for Zimbabwe tourism,” said Kennedy.

“I am proud of our team for continuing to deliver such excellence.

“We hope this latest global award is the forerunner of a stunning year ahead that will be highlighted by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation general assembly at Victoria Falls in August next year.”

AAT is a hospitality group offering the cream of Southern African tourism products, with the award-winning Victoria Falls Safari Lodge as its flagship property. It operates three divisions, namely hospitality, restaurants and parks.
