NYAMANDLOVU — A new Silver Stream Extension plot owner in Nyamandlovu and his two accomplices on Thursday appeared charged with theft of 93 rail sleepers, one scrap tractor radiator, three scrap batteries and 12 pieces of scrap metals belonging to the State from the newly acquired plot.

REPORT BY SILAS NKALA STAFF REPORTER

Stanford Masuku (age not given) of Plot number 4 Silver Stream Extension in Nyamandlovu, Ronald Ndabaningi (33) of Lobengula and Freeman Ndlovu (32) of Montrose in Bulawayo were not asked to plead to a theft charge when they appeared before the magistrate Victor Mpofu during a circuit court at Nyamandlovu.

The magistrate remanded them out of custody to November 29 on free bail for trial.

The court heard that Masuku was allocated a plot number 4 at Silver Stream Extension where the state owned 93 rail sleepers, one scrap tractor radiator, three scrap batteries and twelve pieces of scrap metal belonging to state were kept.

It is the State case that on September 14 this year Masuku sold the scraps to Ndabaningi who paid for them an amount which is not stated in the court papers. Ndabaningi loaded the material into a truck bound to take them to Bulawayo driven by Ndlovu.

On their way to Bulawayo, the truck was intercepted by police at Nyamandlovu who then arrested them. On Ndlovu and Ndabaningi’s arrest they implicated Masuku leading to his arrest as well.
