Ndabambi was roped into the Blue Rangers technical team with his brief being to save the team from relegation following the ouster of Misheck Chidzambwa.

And he appeared to be on the right track after his shock 1-1 draw against reigning PSL champions Dynamos who had demolished them 6-0 in their first meeting in the season.

That result against the champions had raised hopes for Ndabambi and his men and only a fool could have dismissed them at that stage. But subsequent results have seen their hopes fade despite posting crucial wins in some of their assignments.

After the midweek 5-1 thrashing by Chicken Inn, they find themselves in third position from bottom with only 24 points from 27 matches after Gunners’ shock 1-0 win over Monomotapa saw them rise to fourth position on the league table.

But Ndabambi said they drew some positives from the match against Chicken Inn despite the heavy defeat. “We have lost by big margins in our last two matches, but if you noticed we dominated play after conceding four goals against Chicken Inn. We are drawing positives from that and should be able to pick ourselves up and ensure we win our remaining league matches to survive. Of course, Shabanie are playing well, but we are confident we will be able to pick ourselves to stay in the league,” said Ndabambi.
