The three winners will be drawn after the national finals to be held on December 31 in the capital and this will see the crown king and two runner ups winning the trip to South Africa.

The reigning Mr Ugly Harare 2012 William Masvinu’s bravery is set to pay off as the event organisers are promising to send three contestant to South Africa early next year for the Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament.

Currently, the provincial finals are taking place around the country’s nine remaining province with Harare, Chitungwiza, Mashonaland Central and Manicaland already having theirs.

Apart from the trip, City Sports Bar proprietor Biggie Chinoperekwei, who is also the event organisers, earlier revealed that he had injected $10 000 for the finals.

“The winner and two finalists of Mr Ugly Zimbabwe will have a chance to go and watch the final match of the Afcon, which is being hosted by South Africa.”

“We will take care of all the expenses, including transport, food, accommodation, in short, it will be an all-expenses paid trip”, he said.

The 2013 Afcon final is taking place on February 10 at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.

The Mr Ugly national final event will be held at the City Sports Bar, but the proprietor hinted that there might be change of venue as the contest is proving to be a thriller for revellers.

“As for now, we are still planning for City Sports Bar, but there is a chance we may move to a bigger venue and City Sports Centre might be ideal as the event has become popular among many people,” he said. More than 20 participants are expected to take part at the grand finale. Masvinu is one of the strong contenders to win the coveted prize.

Masvinu said he is bubbly with confidence and says he will land the top crown.
