The PM said in a statement: “Our thoughts at present are with Luke and his family. Luke is a family man and we appreciate that this is a challenging time for everyone who is close to him. We trust that God gives them courage. I have known Luke for a long time and he is a passionate, capable and courageous member of the team.”

Tsvangirai said he was confident that Tamborinyoka who is in the Intensive Care Unit at a local clinic will pull through.

“I know that this is a battle like no other but I know that his strength of character, his belief and his courage will carry him through this ordeal. In these moments, we look to the doctors for their skill and also spiritually to God for his comforting and healing hand. Therefore, our collective prayer is that Luke is healed as soon as possible”.

The Welshman Ncube led MDC formation also called for prayers for Tamborinyoka’s speedy recovery.

“We wish (Luke) Tamborinyoka, the Spokesperson of P.M Tsvangirai a speedy recovery. We pray for God’s grace and healing for Luke after a very bad accident. Please take a moment in your day to say a prayer for him. We believe.” said Nhlanhla Dube.
