The accused, Zowa Mungate of Plot 27 Northwood Farm, Kutama, Zvimba, was on Monday arraigned before magistrate Patience Chirimo, who remanded him out of custody to December 5 for trial at the Murombedzi Circuit Court.

Allegations against Mungate were that on November 15 at around 9am at the farm, he cornered a sow which was roaming around and lowered his trousers before performing a sexual act on the animal.

It was averred that as Mungate committed the offence, his supervisor Lundi Ndhlovu was peeping through his bedroom window and witnessed the dastardly act 30 metres away.

The supervisor teamed up with another farm employee, Maxwell Musa, and confronted Mungate who allegedly confessed to bestiality, apologised and begged them not to reveal the matter to anyone.

The matter was later reported to the police, leading to accused’s arrest.

Tinashe Serengwa prosecuted.
