They face a determined and wounded Hwange desperate for points to take them to their last match against Highlanders on Sunday.

Hwange are perched precariously on position 11 on the log table with 30 points from 28 matches and they must win both their last two matches against Rangers today and the last against relegated Quelaton at Luveve on Sunday if they are to survive the chop.

The Partson Ndabambi-coached Rangers are also in danger, lying third from the bottom with 25 points and can only reach a peak of 31 points if they win the two tough encounters.

With Black Mambas taking on Hardbody and Gunners away to Motor Action, Hwange head coach Nation Dube yesterday said the match against Blue Rangers would be tricky.

“I am just coming from preaching to the boys that they should concentrate right up to the end of the game. We lost to FC Platinum at the last minute because of lapse in concentration, but the response has been positive from the boys. It will be a tough match. We just have to make sure we collect the three points. It will be the most difficult game for us as we fight relegation,” Dube said.

Save for Evans Rusike, who is serving suspension after he saw red against Hardbody, Dube said all his boys were raring to go to survive the chop.

Farai Vimisai had a wonderful game against Platinum, enjoying a good combination with Tawanda Mareya and veteran striker Gilbert Zulu. Also in camp is Nkosana Siwela and Tongai Mamhina. A solid defence that has Tonisani Sibelo, David Boriwondo and Gerald Ndlovu and enterprising Zambian linkman Aaron Katebe will be on show.

Ndabambi is confident that after sharing the spoils with Shabanie Mine in their last game in Harare, his charges can win at the Colliery.

“We are going there with a positive mind. We are still in with a fight. Of course we have made it difficult for ourselves, but we cannot afford to switch off concentration. If we lose to Hwange and to Highlanders then we are out.

“Tomorrow’s (today’s) game is a must-win encounter. With the kind of performance in the 1-1 draw against Shabanie, we are confident of getting the three points,” Ndabambi said.

Blue Rangers have David Temwanjira, James Marufu, veteran Nyasha Chazika and goalkeeper Pedzisayi Gumiremhete to bank on.
