The race will start from Centenary Park and finish at Hillside Dams. Secretary of Bulawayo Athletics Board, Dailes Bingadadi, has confirmed the race.

“We are going to have this year’s edition of the Hope Fountain Race on Sunday. We have been receiving enquires from athletes on the race, so we are expecting about 150 athletes to take part. We are grateful for the support and we would like to encourage athletes to participate. One of the athletes who has confirmed participation is Sharon Tavengwa,” she said.

The major highlight of the day will be the main 30km race for the men and women’s categories with top eight athletes expected to get prize monies.  Athletes who romp home first in both women and men categories will each pocket $500.

On offer will be the veterans’ category for athletes between 35-49 years, while older athletes will feature in the masters’ section meant to cater for athletes from 50-60 year ages.

Senior men and women athletes will participate in the 3x10km race while juniors will fight for top spot in the 6x5km race. Athletes in wheelchairs will battle it out in the 25km race with some athletes expected to feature in the 7,5km walk.
